What God Wants For Us: Marked
What God Wants For Us
Part 1: Marked
Read Genesis 1:27 and Ephesians 4:24. What does it mean for men and women to be “made in the image of God”? What significance do you interpret (tselem) “image” and (demuth) “likeness” to have in this passage?
How are each of us like “angled mirrors” to the world around us? Read Isaiah 59:2. What caused the “mirrors” to get smudged up?
Why did God make us in His image? What impact does that have on our view of ourselves, others, and the world around us?
Read 2 Corinthians 5:16 -21. Do you agree that being made in God’s image makes our relationship to God the safest we could ever have? Why or why not?
How can we view our relationship to God like ships in a harbor?
Read 2 Samuel 22:2 and 2 Thessalonians 3:3. How is God’s love a refuge? Read Isaiah 57:18-19 and Philippians 4:19. How does God’s love repair and resupply us?
Do you believe that God really wants to repair what sin has broken or damaged in your life? Where might you struggle to see God’s image and likeness in you? How have you experienced God’s repair?
How can we help one another live out being “marked” / made in God’s image?
