Psalm 7

  1. Read Psalm 7. What parts of God’s character comforts David in the midst of persecution?

  2. Why does God care more about repentance than he does perfection? What is the difference between the two? Why is there such harsh language against those who do not repent?

  3. Read Psalm 7:12-16. What are the characteristics of one who does not repent? What will their life be like?

  4. Do you have an instinct of unrepentance? A shield of defense that automatically goes up when God or another person confronts you or is critical? (The best way to find out is to ask the people who know you best - a spouse, co-worker, friend, etc...)

  5. How and why was that instinct put into place? Did something happen to you in the past that made you more protective?

  6. What does it feel like when that instinct kicks in? What does your body feel like? Do you feel annoyed? Scared? Tense?

  7. How might your life and relationships flourish if you were to practice disarming that instinct?

  8. Read Jeremiah 3:22 - How does the gospel of Jesus Christ make it safe for us to repent without fear of being rejected?
