“Why the Law?”

  1. Review Galatians 2:15-21 and 3:10-13. What is the Gospel according to these texts?

  2. Read Galatians 3:8-9, 14, 29 and Genesis 12:1-3. How did God preach the Gospel to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3? What agreement did God make with Abraham and all of his descendants?

  3. Read Galatians 3:19-25. Why was the Law given? What purpose did it serve? Did the Law cancel the agreement given to Abraham?

  4. How are Christians today included int he agreement given to Abraham?

  5. Is the Law still in effect today?

  6. Review Galatians 5:6, 13-14, 16-23. What is the difference between the Law and the Spirit of God?

  7. What does it look like to rely upon the radical grace of God and also follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit in our lives?

  8. How should we interact with God’s commands in the Scripture today?
