Stories of Belief, Pt. 1

We begin a new series called Stories of Belief, Pt. 1, where we look at seven signs Jesus performs as recorded in the gospel of John that reveal who Jesus is.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

PT. 1 | A WEDDING AT CANA | JOHN 2:1-11

Read Isaiah 24:4-11 & Isaiah 25:6-9.

  1. What details does the Bible use to describe the Kingdom of this World vs. the Kingdom of God?

  2. Read John 2:1-11 together. Based off of your reading from Isaiah, what is the symbolic significance that the wine has run out at the wedding?

  3. What have you looked to in this world for joy and fulfillment and how has it come up short?

  4. Read Revelation 19:6-10. What is the significance that Jesus’ mother asked Him to play the role of the bridegroom at the wedding?

  5. Why is it significant that Jesus changes the water used for purification to wine used for celebration? What does this tell us about how we relate with God through Jesus?

  6. Read Luke 15:17-24. In what ways do you find yourself expecting an interaction with God to be like the interaction the Prodigal Son was expecting to have with His father?

  7. Read Matthew 26:26-29. Why is it important that we partake of the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis? What are we being reminded of?

  8. How do we create a culture within our church and within our groups that gives us a taste of the Kingdom and doesn’t remind us of the old way of relating with God?
