Wisdom, Pt. 4 - “Numbering Your Days”

Wisdom, Pt. 4

Psalm 90 | Numbering Your Days

1. Read Psalm 90:12. Why does God want us to number our days? What should that encourage us to do?

2. Read Ecclesiastes 11-12:8. Why is youth and old age considered vanity?

3. We can put off thinkng about death in two ways: (1) Live for the moment - keeping our mind off the future or (2) living for tomorrow - finding security in what we do now to avoid hardship tomorrow. Which one do you find yourself leaning towards? Why?

4. Why is knowing there is a “season” for everything improtant? What does that help us do?

5. Why is the gospel our only hope against vanity (shortness of life)?

6. Numbering our days:

• Why is rejoicing a way to help us number our days (Eccl. 11:9)?

• Why is remembering a way to help us number our days (Eccl. 21:1-8)?

• Why is contentment a way to help us number our days (Phil 4:11-13)?

7. Where in the 80 year life span do you find yourself?

• What does it look like to be fruitful in this season that God has you in?

• How does the gospel give hope/strength/purpose to number our days? • What would change for you by numbering your days?

• How can we help each other – in whatever season of life we are in – to rejoice in today, remember who God is and what he’s done, and encourage each other that Jesus promises that this life isn’t over at death?
